"Do you have a tattoo? What is it and why did you get it?..."

Ahh story time of my tats! I've grown up in a family where expressing yourself is absolutely perfect. And I am super lucky because my family is really accepting and there is no reason to judge. I have always loved tattoos, I think they are a great way for someone to be able to express yourself in a unique way.

My first tattoo. I got my first tattoo a couple years back with my mom. She always use to sing the song "you are my sunshine" to me when I was little. Growing up that kinda has always been our saying to each other. We talked about getting this tattoo for a couple years and where exactly we wanted it. That was the hardest part, deciding where to get it since it's on there for good. Unlike tattoos, permanent hair color you can still change eventually.. Tattoos aren't exactly that easy to change. Finally after deciding where to get it, bam it was done just like that. We chose on our left inside, upper arm. Like right next to the armpit, ya know? It's the spot closest to the heart.. we were being sappy. But I LOVE the location of it. My mom has "you make me happy" and I have "when skies are grey" both have a cute little sun before the quote. I am still in love with this tattoo even after almost 2 years. Thanks for getting tatted with me momma.

And my second tat. This one took a lot of thinking. I wanted it to be big, but not too big. I wanted it to represent who I am and what I love doing. I never could figure out where I wanted it either or exactly what I wanted for sure. And one day it cam to me, center of my back, a compass, and an arrow. This tattoo has a few meanings behind it. One is it represents being adventurous. I always love getting myself into new things, trying new things, and going new places. I like to think it's a reminder that no matter where I am at, I can find something new out of every situation. I had a family member tell me one time that our great-grandmother told him "to go as far as he could go, and go lots of places. The only thing is, just remember how you got there so you can come back" Ever since then I have always thought about that. I cannot read a compass to save my life, and especially not one on my back but it will always be there to help guide me through life. That is the other reason behind it. And lastly the arrow that goes through it is to always go forward. No matter what, life is always moving, so I try to make the best out of every situation, learn from my mistakes, and go from there.

So there ya have it. The meanings behind my ink. What are the meaning of your tattoos? Or if you don't have any, why do you want to join #teamtatted? Make sure to leave a comment and subscribe to a little bit of nat! Happy Thursday my lovely readers.
